On 7 December 2016, we have been surprised that the US Treasury Department included Sheikh Al-Hassan Ali Abkar, one of the senior leaders and Sheikhs in Al-Jawf, in the list of terrorism supporters.
We, the leadership, Sheikhs and dignitaries in Al-Jawf, announce our solidarity with our leader and brother Sheikh Al-Hassan Abkar and we condemn this silly decision.
We say that if Sheikh Al-Hassan Abkar is classified as a terrorist due to his fighting against the Houthi ideology and the Persian presence on the Yemeni soil, United States should include all Sheikhs, dignitaries and military commanders in Yemen who fight and encounter the Persian expansion in the list of terrorism.
We also tell Americans and their agents that Sheikh Al-Hassan Abkar is a man of good positions and that such accusations will not shake a hair in his head and will increase his courage and steadfastness in fighting against the Houthis and their allies.
From here, we call President of the Republic, Vice President and Prime Minister to issue a statement to denounce this farce and false accusations, and to assign Yemen’s Foreign Minister, AbdulMalik al-Mekhlafi, and Ambassador to United States, Bin Mubarak, to quickly deliver the statement to the US administration and ask it to retract this invalid decision.
I also call upon the political and independent forces, civil society organizations, political activists and journalists to denounce this dark decision against this prominent and important patriotic personality, and to work on an immediate plan to organize protests all over the Yemeni governorates and to issue condemnation statements against this wrong decision and to ask US administration to retract it.
