الأربعاء 17 مايو 2017 الساعة 12 مساءً / Statement from political parties and organizations and civil society organizations in Al-Jawf
Political parties and civil society organizations in Al-Jawf governorate followed the decision of the US Treasury Department to add the name of Sheikh Al-Hassan bin Ali Abkar to the list of those who are included in the sanctions under the pretext of supporting terrorist organizations. Political parties and organizations and civil society organizations in Al-Jawf received this decision wit disappointment towards the US policy and depending on false information at the time we were waiting for the US government to seriously support the political process and bring it back into being.
The political parties and organizations and civil society organizations in Al-Jawf confirm that Sheikh Al-Hassan bin Ali Abkar is one of the symbols of the political action in Al-Jawf and one of the most prominent founders of the peaceful democratic work in the governorate.
Sheikh Hassan bin Ali Abkar is also one of the victims of the outlaw terrorist groups because of his stance beside the legal political leadership. Although his houses were demolished and his sons and nephews were killed, and his family was displaced outside the province, he continued his steady positions and support to the legal political leadership.
The leaderships of the political parties and civil society organizations in Al-Jawf condemn and denounce this decision and call upon the US government to reconsider its decision which is considered to be an obstacle against the political democratic process in Al-Jawf. So we hope that the US administration seriously will stand beside the legitimate government, support the political process to impose the state’s control, and stop intervention in the national sovereignty.
